Would you share your experience with me? Met with my endocrinologist last week and after reviewing my DEXA scan, and doctor's charts from the fractured pelvis last year, he says I have osteoporosis in the left hip and because the pelvic fracture was on the right side, that's considered osteoporosis too.

I'm up for giving Prolia a try, however I have a race in 6 weeks. So if the side effects are likely to slow me down, I'll wait until after that race.

Hi edj3. I am not a runner, but I'm wondering if you ever went on Prolia for your osteoporosis. My endo has filed a request for my insurance to approve Prolia two times....both denied. I've had osteopenia and osteoporosis for over 10 years and multiple fractures and now this BC.

Yes, I did. I waited for the first round until after the race I mentioned in my original post. Now in a weird ironic twist, my insurance has removed Prolia from the formulary of approved drugs. There's an appeal process so I've asked my endo if he does that and if not, what my options are.

That stinks that your request was denied :(

And I had my second injection Friday, and an allergic flare by Sunday. My endocrinologist said that's it for me with Prolia and we'll look at other options when I see him in July. Guessing this means I move to the daily Forteo injections.

    Boo.
