worried about symptoms and finances
hi, i had some questions that i was hoping the community could answer, thank you! as a heads up though i may be slow at replying because ive been really sick with a virus this week and the symptoms can make it hard to stay on my computer for long. i should be better in a few days from now though!
ill go ahead and cover whats happened up until now first. on tuesday i went to my primary care doctor with virus symptoms, but then midday wednesday i noticed my right nipple suddenly looked larger than the left, but it had always been slightly smaller. thursday evening i did a self exam and found a lump in my right breast. i called my doctor back friday morning, and she had me come in immediately. i got a breast exam and she said it could be either fibrocystic or breast cancer, then said for me to get an x ray the following week to check. im calling to schedule it tomorrow
but since friday ive had something new come up. yesterday morning when i was getting ready to shower i noticed my left nipple looked a bit dull in color. not pale, but kinda like it was losing color, kinda lifeless looking. upon examining i found that i couldnt feel it anymore, it had absolutely 0 sensation. i tried pinching it really hard a few times, but i still couldnt feel anything. the right one was fine though, which was surprising since i have already having issues with the right in general.
a couple hours ago today i checked again and now the right side only has partial feeling. im supposed to call my doctor monday morning to give an update anyways, so ill be informing her of the changes from this weekend then.
one more thing before i ask my questions is that i know that lynch syndrome is prominent on my dads side of the family. i was never tested for it. my dad passed away in july 2015 from brain cancer when i was 15, his sister suddenly passed a few months later with colon cancer that no one knew she had, and his other sister survived colon cancer in the past. i have some cousins on my dads side that have had different kinds of cancer, but i dont remember what kinds. also one of my great grandmothers on my moms side survived breast cancer, while my moms sister survived uterine cancer. i mention this just in case family history is important to say.
so for questions:
is losing complete sensation of the nipple or a dull-looking color associated with breast cancer or any other medical issue that can cause lumps?
if i were diagnosed with breast cancer, are there any financing options? i know how expensive it can be from when my dad was sick, but my family no longer has insurance and we dont have much money. i have no credit history and my moms credit score is really bad these days, so carecredit denied us when i needed help in the past for something else.
thank you so much for reading and any support given! i really appreciate it. and if theres any advice thats thought of unrelated to my questions, feel free to let me know. (:
