I am starting my search for reconstruction surgeons. I want to hear from real women who have had great results. I live in Seattle but will travel anywhere for a good experience. Has anyone used the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery in New Orleans, LA? They seemed to be very experienced in working with breast cancer women but I cannot seem to find unbiased reviews.

I had my mastectomy first then chemo and radiation. I plan to have my surgery in January or February 2020 so I have time to research any recommendations. Would love to hear from fellow breast cancer survivors who have had good experiences. We have been through so much and I want to feel good about my reconstruction. Thank you dear ones for anything you can provide in the way of information. I have been told I am a candidate for an SGAP since I have had a C-Section and Gallbladder removal I am told I am not a candidate for the DIEP procedure.

    Hi Paintersdream,

You may find this thread on NOLA helpful! Lots of members have used this center for their reconstruction needs.

Also, Breastcancer.org has done some wonderful collaborations with CRBS that you may find helpful: Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction Video Series.

    We hope this helps!

Absolutely love my reconstruction results! It took several surgeries to achieve the results but, for me, it was worth all of the effort. I was treated and did my reconstruction at MD Anderson. My breast surgeon laid a great foundation with such a small horizontal scar that after my areola tattoo was added, less than half an inch of the scar is even visible. Amazing. My PS is a perfectionist, of sorts, but who's gonna complain about that when you're getting your breasts done!? Feel free to PM me for more info.

I went to the breast center in New Orleans. After visiting several doctors in Alabama I felt the best going to them even though it was out of network with my insurance. I think it is important to feel confident in who you choose. I had a great experience. My favorite doctor is Dr. Ordoyne the surgical oncologist that removed my breast and checked the lymph nodes. My plastic surgeon was Dr. Mathew Wise and he was nice and did a great job, I know someone that used Dr. Sullivan and he is good. Dr. Delecroce started this procedure years ago and they do these every day (reconstruction and astectomy) People from my all over go to the breast center because they are so good so be patient about getting an appointment . I didn’t pursue plastic surgeons outside of my town as I have three different hospital systems and many options. I valued being able to meet and talk to my doctors in person as often as I needed to prior to surgery and treatments. If you haven’t met with a surgeon who does DIEP, please don’t rely on statements from others that you aren’t a candidate. I don’t know one way or another but do know that nothing beats the evaluation by an expert. My breast surgeon, who I adore and is top in his field, advised against DIEP due t recovery time and I found recovery from DIEP significantly easier than my mastectomy had been. Good luck with your research and decision.
