HI, I just joined the forums for insight. I am 43 with a history of an intraductal papilloma that was removed in 2012 with no atypical features. Fast forward to this year and has my annual mammo in May, recalled for diagnostic Mammo and US and came back with a small group of round, punctate micro-calcifications and a complicated cyst. Had biopsy on cyst and all benign. The calcs are a BIRADS 3 and a 6 month followup. I know from the mammo the calcs are way far back by my chest wall and the radiologists could not definitively see them in prior mammo studies. I am unsure if I should wait the 6 months or push for a biopsy now. I have seen conflicting info on if they are new (not on baseline or previous studies) to wait. The way all of the reports are worded is that they cant definitely say they are there on old imaging, the calcs were so far back that they may not have been picked up before.

Needless to say I am nervous to trust the radiologist, although I was at a breast center and she is fellowed in breast imaging. I am trying to calm my nerves because it's a long process to monitor(2 years) for changes.

Thanks

    Hi vadreamer,

We're so sorry you're here and worrying. We are sending positive thoughts your way for good results. Is it possible you could ask for a second opinion? Maybe that would make you feel better about what's going on?

Others will surely be by shortly to weigh in, but wanted to offer our thoughts.

Please let us know what you find out.
