Could my benign results be wrong?

Hello all, I went to my pc doctor in May bc I was having a lot of pain in my left breast and it had some red/purplish discoloration. My doctor scheduled me for a mammogram of both breast and an ultrasound of my left breast. That was completed on May 15th. During which they found that I had a cyst in my left breast via mammogram and via ultrasound they found a mass and scheduled me for a core needle biopsy. I had the biopsy on June 3rd and was called back on the 4th and was told the mass was benign. My report stated “Pathology revealed benign findings and microcalcifications with no evidence of atypia or malignancy. Recommend a six-month follow-up diagnostic left mammogram to assess the stability of this area. CATEGORY 3-PROBABLY BENIGN FINDING“

It’s been a month since my biopsy and since then the pain in left breast has gotten worse, it burns and itches. The discoloration has gotten worse and has now spread to my right breast as well. And as of this week I have about 10 blistering looking bumps appear on my left breast. I was so happy that the mass was benign, but something is not right. Could this be IBC? Would IBC show up on the core needle biopsy I had done or the mammogram? I know they said my breast had “heterogeneously dense breast tissue throughout both breasts (50-75% fibroglandular). Which makes it harder to see things.

Sorry for the long story, I’m just really concerned about this! Any advise/info would be appreciated. Also I’m 34 years old.

Thanks!

Hi vturner, and welcome to Breastcancer.org.

We're so very sorry you're here and worrying. The good thing is, you're young, and IBC is relatively rare. If the "blistering" is a new symptom, we'd suggest that you bring this to your doctor's attention. Since the biopsy was benign, perhaps this is more of a skin issue than a breast tissue issue. Maybe a dermatologist would have some recommendations?

We hope you get answers and relief soon!

Get yourself to a Dermatologist! From your description, a skin issue seems more likely than IBC.
