Hi Everyone! I had a lumpectomy last week and all went very well. I was wondering from anybody's experience, how long the breast tenderness will last?

Its only been about 10 days, and I am feeling good, back to work and most activities, but def cant work out yet. Its still VERY tender to the touch.

Thanks in advance.

Colleen

    Hi,

I had lumpectomy on 05/17/2019. I was excited as I was told it would be less pain than the biopsy. I agree with that except that I also had SLB at the same time and my arm hurt more than my breast.

I finally felt GREAT after about 3 weeks, almost forgot what was going on as there was no pain. Started all normal activities-golf and yoga- 4 weeks after.

    Good Luck.

Yeah the sentinel node surgery has taken longer to feel A OK.

I was walking the first week, running the second week, lifting extremely light weights the third week.

Now I'm nearly finished with radiation--if rads is in your future, be aware your pec may end up feeling really tight and sore. Well actually my whole breast feels a bit like it got kicked but I am careful with the weights and haven't tried down dog yet. I've been doing planks from my elbows though.

Good luck and I hope your healing is super quick.

Wow this proves how different everyone is. My SN site never hurt, was no big deal and healed immediately. At the two week mark I was in so much pain in my breasts that I actually posted here about it looking for help/advice.

Lo and behold, that was the low point. The pain was gone at the 5 week mark and has stayed gone so far. Let's hope it lasts. I start radiation TODAY.

I should add that I had a lumpectomy concurrent with reduction of the healthy breast to match and a lift of both.

    Hang in there OP.
