I am 65 and get annual mammos. I had one in December, 2018, with ultrasound follow up and it showed what appeared to be a lymph node in left breast. Recommendation was to follow up in 6 months, which I did. This time, they said it was a mass and to follow up with breast surgeon. Dr said it was most likely fibroadenoma (at 2:00) and did a biopsy, which confirmed diagnosis. Recommendation was to wait and see. About 2 weeks after the biopsy I started getting really bad pain in my breast, when lying on my side, lifting anything with left hand, stretching, etc. So went back to Dr 6 weeks after initial biopsy and he said it had doubled in size. He gave me option of waiting 6 months or having surgery. I opted for the surgery and am scheduled for July 10th. They have scheduled me for a need localization the day prior to the procedure. I am not sure what this is being done for. The nurse said they would inject dye into the breast. Can anyone tell me what is involved with this?

Hi Rory, and welcome to Breastcancer.org,

We don't have any answers for you regarding the need for the dye, but we're hoping our post will pop your thread back into active topics and get it noticed by someone who can help shed some light.

We wish you the best with your surgery and a smooth recovery!
