What were your symptoms?

I be had both at the same time, before chemo. I thought I had a cold, dry hacky cough. Then I thought I’d pulled a muscle in my calf. That got warm, red, and swelled. CT showed multiple clots in lung and legs.

I had one after revision surgery. It was not in the calf as I expected, but in the upper thigh and I thought it was muscle pain. I had an episode of near fainting, rapid heartbeat and clammy skin, but thought it was a reaction to something I had eaten. In hindsight, I was pretty ignorant, but since I had made it through the major surgery fine, I wasn’t as careful with the second surgery.

Did they ever mention your d.dimer being high

I never had that test, but my oncologist said I should have had it done right away after having symptoms.

I had a blood clot (DVT) near my port. It was discovered 2 months PFC. My port was above my left breast. After my last chemo, I would get occasional tingling in my left arm. I thought I was developing neuropathy. 2 months PFC I put on a wrist-watch with a fixed band and it was tight -- my arm was swollen but I didn't notice until then. My MO ordered a US and that's when the clot was discovered.
I didn't get a d.dimner test then, but I did get one 10 months later in the ER when I passed out. My d.dimner was very high (way above the normal range) so they gave me a chest CT (thinking I had a clot) as well as a abdominal CT (cause I had an abdominal abscess 2 months PFC just before my DVT was discovered). My chest CT was clear but I did have another abdominal abscess so I was hospitalized for that.
I have no idea why my d.dimner was so high. Since a clot wasn't found in my chest no one seemed to care. Perhaps my abdominal abscess caused the high score. I haven't had another d.dimner.

I had a DVT before chemo. In fact, it was due to the DVT that they found out I have enlarged lymph nodes.
The DVT was on my left leg and they told me it was really bad. My left leg was swollen and painful. They confirmed when they did an ultrasound.
I just finished my AC#4 and oncologist agreed that both of my feet are swollen, the reason probably because I did not do exercises during chemo. I am also on blood thinner, hence I am not too worry yet.

Hello KCG
Yes, I developed tiny pulmonary emboli on chemo. Called the doc out in the middle of the night because I could not breathe and felt shaky. He advised me to take an aspirin immediately and go to A and E the next day. Actually, I think I should have gone there immediately so do not delay if you feel worried like that. Call an ambulance.
Blood tests next day and D Diemer is high so it was nine months this of warfarin for me.
Alive and kicking today.
