Cracked bleeding skin after major duct excision

I had a major duct excision just over a week ago and the recovery and healing process has been going really well. Over the last two days I noticed the skin on my nipple is cracked, bleeding, and oozing. It looks really sore but I lost all sensation so I can’t feel anything. Is this a normal part of the healing process? Has anyone else experienced this or used any helpful creams/moisturizers?
