Cough, fever, chills post chemo

Had four rounds of T/C that ended on May 28th. Had a single mastectomy January 23

Last Thursday went to emergency for chills and 38C temperature - was given 7 days of antibiotics followed by another 3 days of antibiotics after the first bought didn’t work. (Bladder infection)

I’ve had a dry cough as well for two weeks. And the chills and higher temperature continue, almost for two weeks now as well.

Has anyone gone through this?

I had blood work, culture test, urine analysis x2 and chest X-ray. The nurse practitioner was the one that gave me the 3 days extra of antibiotics and told me my body is able to fight the infection.

what are your neutrophil counts like?

this could be a viral infection in which case the antibiotics are not doing much except protecting you from a possible secondary infection

but you really need to watching your neutrophils in case you're neutropenic

that's excellent then. But if you're not feeling better tomorrow you could call and see if you should be seen again. I think a simple infection should be getting better not hanging around this long, kwim?
