Lost interest in food

Has anyone noticed a connection between taking tamoxifen and losing interest in food? I have an appetite, and am eating, and nothing has changed about the taste, but things I used to look forward to and consider treats are now kind of meh. Earlier this week I was trying to plan something especially yummy for supper after a really grueling week, thinking I needed something to look forward to and a reward, and I couldn't come up with anything that sounded interesting. I've never been a picky eater and have always enjoyed trying out new cuisines, but lately, I seem to have developed an attitude about food like the one I have about car: baffled by the existence of Lamborghinis, because doesn't a Kia get you across town perfectly well?

Yes, that happened to me too. I can’t blame it on tamoxifen. Been off of that over a year. For me, I think it was shell shock, PTSD, whatever, that came from getting a stage 4 dx after 7 years NED

I couldn’t be bothered to think up something for dinner. Asked DH what he wanted, he was no help. I really like to bake, couldn’t get interested. This lasted a few months. Carry out, frozen stuff, anything but me in the kitchen

It seems to be slowly getting better as long as you’re eating I wouldn’t worry too much. Might want to mention to PCP or MO if continues

I've lost about 20 pounds since my diagnosis the last of March. I just haven't been terribly hungry, and any time I eat I think to myself "is this food potentially going to feed my cancer?". It has definitely changed how and what I eat, as well as my total relationship with food. I don't think it is a SE of the tamoxifen for me, but rather just a stress reaction to the diagnosis. Since I needed to lose weight anyway, and since my husband has been totally on board and supportive when I suggest that we just have oatmeal with goji berries for dinner, I am just rolling with it. Just be sure that if you are eating fewer calories you are eating nutritionally dense foods to make up for it. Good luck!

Spookiesmom, I am so sorry about your recurrence.
