Hello All,

I'm new to this forum, and looking for some info. I am currently on Herceptin and Tykerb for Stage 4 Triple Positive MBC. Results are mixed - mets to brain and had 2 Gamma Knife treatments in past 6 weeks. My oncologist wants to add another agent, Navalbine (vinorelbine) to the mix. Our insurance company denied the request, as there is nothing in the literature speaking to the efficacy of this combo. We have searched PubMed and other online resources and spoken with the manufacturers of all three drugs. Nobody seems to have any data on this combo.

I am hoping that someone in this community has had this combo previously and can help connect us to your oncologist in order to get some evidence of efficacy.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome, Dana-in-SoCal! We're glad you've joined our community, but we're so sorry for what brings you here. Hopefully you find support and advice on these boards.

It's possible that someone here has some insight into this particular combo, but did your doctor mention the reasons they want to add the Navalbine? Is there a study they cited, or have other patients had success on the combo? We know it can be frustrating and tricky to deal with insurance companies, especially when it comes to treatments that don't have a significant documented efficacy, but perhaps your oncologist can shed some light on why they felt this combo would be a good course of action for you. And again, hopefully another member here can chime in soon with their experience!
