I posted yesterday my story about my dr putting me on antibiotics 2x before sending me for an ultrasound. I just keep thinking about symptoms. Ultrasound determined there is a large tumour at 12 o’clock on my right breast. I don’t feel it at all because either it’s too deep or my implant is in front of it. My first question is can an ultrasound tell the difference between a cyst and a mass (tumor) could this just be a cyst? Is it normal to not do a mammogram and just do the ultrasound? Dr sent referral to breast centre for a biopsy, I should have an appointment by mid week 🙏

I made an appointment to see my dr again tomorrow to ask for a copy of my ultrasound results. Is this being too pushy? Too paranoid? I am turning 43 in 2 months and have family history of breast cancer with my aunt passing at 45yrs old after losing her battle and my cousin at 23 losing her battle, both on my moms side of family. It’s eating me alive, now I’m wondering if my severe back pain is a bad sign (I go to a pain management clinic) as my cortisone shots are no longer working. I’ve noticed my breast has “ goosebumps “ texture to the skin, along with the pain and tingling. Am I being too paranoid and just looking for symptoms now? Argh this waiting is terrible.

Yes. That is one of the primary functions of ultrasound.

Depends on age of patient, and/or if there has already been a recent mammo, varies by situation and by facility.

No, not too pushy but that request should go to the facility where you had the imaging done, not your doctor. You can also get a CD of the images from them.

Let us know what the biopsy shows.

my family doctor has my written ultrasound report, it was sent to him from the imaging facility. I’m in Canada so im not sure if things are done differently here. Unfortunately my family doctor was very vague about results, simply saying “ there’s a large tumour on you’re breast, I’m referring you to the breast centre for a biopsy, but don’t worry it’s probably benign”
