Hi... New here! I am 66.

Micro Calcifications! This is my second go round same breast!

First one was in 2004. Core needle biopsy with atypia followed with a surgical needle biopsy. Small area with small incision - Clear.

Second one was last Wednesday, a surgical needle biopsy because these were linear calcifications close to a blood supply, the Dr. at the breast imaging center didn't want to risk me bleeding badly so she sent me to a surgeon. They have been watching this every six months for a year. These were multiplying in length so it warranted being biopsied. There is a 4 inch incision this time. They were actually present on my 2011 Mammo! The previous mammography center NEVER told me they were present like they did back in 2004!

    Waiting, waiting, waiting.....

    Thanks for reading my story!

Hi CinnamonSpice....my name is Victoria, I'm 67, and I get my biopsy results back this Thursday too. Like you, I am worried. My mother had breast cancer at age 65 and had to have a mastectomy. I found a pretty large lump in my right breast (same side as my mother's cancer) two weeks ago, and don't understand how I could have missed it in my daily bathing. Mammogram and ultrasound show two masses, with the second mass being small, but in a lymph node. Not good. The radiologist believes it's probably cancer, and is contacting a surgeon because she says the mass has to come out, even if it's benign.

I will be thinking of you Thursday and hope you'll come back to share your results! Prayers for you!

    Victoria

Results are in. Moderate risk for breast cancer in the next 5 years with mammos and MRI's every six months. Surgery scheduler will call in the next few days to set up bilateral mastectomy without reconstruction. I would rather get it over with now instead of waiting until I am much older.

What was the actual biopsy finding? ADH?

    Hi Cinnamon,

I understand your decision. I had PDMX for ADH on May 14th, though I chose to do a DIEP reconstruction.

I wish you all the best with this. If you ever want to talk, shoot me a PM and I'll send you my phone #.

    Yours,

    Mary
