Mastectomy and artificial heart valve

Options

I know this is a bizarre question but I'm hoping someone has an answer.

I had a bilat mastectomy with implant reconstruction in 2016. I'm considering explanting and going flat.

In 2018, I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve and an aneurysm. The carbon valve is very loud and I can feel my heartbeat very forcefully. I'm afraid if I go flat the feeling and sound will be amplified.

Even if you didnt have a valve replacement but are reading this, can you tell me if you can visually see your heart beat or if you feel it beat more forcefully?

Thanks so much.

    Hi Irony,

Definitely an unusual question, but I can see why you'd be concerned. I've never noticed a difference at all in the almost-thirteen years since my bilateral mastectomy. Also, I run a non-profit website for women who choose not to have reconstruction (BreastFree.org) and over the years have had thousands of comments and questions from women who have gone flat. Not a single one has mentioned either visually seeing their heart beat or feeling it beat more strongly than before.

But yours is a unique situation -- maybe your cardiologist would have a thought?

hello well I had reconstruction at surgery Lmast but my body rejected it after just one filling it hardened and I had a high fever 104 husband rushed me to E R it was removed and I noticed I could feel my heart beat more so cause breast n implant was removed. Yrs later I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and I thought I could hear my heart But it was that it was racing and it felt like I could hear it. But I agree to check with your Cardiologist. msphil idc stage2 3mo chemo before and after Lmast then got married 2nd, 0/3 nodes. then 7wks rads and 5yrs on Tamoxifen.

Thanks so much for the replies. I have surgery scheduled for September to either take our Allergan textured 410 implants and replace with smooth or go flat. I have synmastia on the right side and also the right implant d ju d not stay in the pocket and is lower. I'm really leaning toward going flat so I don't have to deal with implants at all but I'm exploring all options and asking tons of questions. Thanks again.
