Nipple Reconstruction - Recovery Question

I am having my nipple reconstructed in the PS office tomorrow afternoon. I am reaching out for others experiences regarding their healing time, comfort level and the appearance of your chest post surgery.

The reason I'm asking, is I have a work meeting the next morning and I really should attend in person. I'm primarily worried about what the bandage "hat" will look like with work clothes and if there are any ways to camouflage the area and still be comfortable! Are my expectations unreasonable and I should take a day (or two) off work? I don't expect to be experiencing any discomfort, as I have no feeling in that breast after my DIEP....is this wishful thinking as well?

Thank you in advance for any advice or experiences you are willing to share!

Which kind of reconstruction are you having? If it's the "origami" technique, you should be okay. The bandaging can easily be hidden with a bra (not too tight!) and thick blouse, and the pain (in my experience) is minimal.

Thank you for your input SummerAngel!

I do believe it is the origami technique using the circle of belly skin present from the mastectomy and reconstruction. No grafting :-)
