Is it common costochondritis (both sides) after lumpectomy and chemo? I finished chemo one week ago (AC +T). Has had anyone a similar situation?

Thanks in advance,

Amelia

Ameliaz, I'm bumping your topic back to the top in hope you get responses. Pretty quiet here this weekend and maybe you'll get responses if it appears on the thread list another day. Hope you find answers. All the best.

Hi everyone...I had costochondritis post BMX for 4 months. It was mostly on my right side and center. It was miserable. IMO docs are very slow to diagnosis it. I hope yours goes away like mine did!

I'll bump it again and maybe you will gather more experiences from others! Hope you're feeling better. I had costochondritis years ago long before BC. It did take a long time to resolve and I can still have twinges! I found the most help from a chiropractic kinesiologist who know muscles and how to manipulate them to line up which then reduces the possibilities of inflammation--but I won't begin to guess how that would work after chemo. All the best. Ceanna

I will try to post more on Monday. I had a double mastectomy with a lot od.pain in my chest and shoulder area. I thought it was chostrocondritis . I had loss of range of motion as well in my shoulders. It resolves with myofacial PT which is a manual.massage type treatment along with range of.motion exercises. My therapist uses the Barnes method if you would like to research that.

I was diagnosed with chostrocondritis before my double mastectomy. Needless to say it is still there. I have done the myofacial PT for my shoulder and that worked well with range of motion exercises. What is still there is the tightness in my chest especially underneath both arms. I have learned to live with it but it sure is annoying.

dfad You might want to try the PT like some of us has. It has provided so much shoulder relief. I also will rub my chest at times and the sensation does seem to go away for awhile.

I wen to a PT that specializes in lymphademia and myofascial . She was comfortable working on my ribs and my entire Chest area. It made a world of difference in chest restriction

I am suffering pretty bad costo. I am 11 mos out from BMX. Rest helps, and I am doing gentle stretches and nyofascial release. Until I hit my out-of-pocket max, PT is $300 a session. Once it's not flaring I'll go see my massage therapist again.

Selkie36 My costo did ease up after a time. The tightness is still there. I wonder if you could do acupuncture. I know all about expensive PT due to insurance. I am in the same situation. I have done acupuncture for my hip bursitis and it worked like a charm. Might be an option until you meet your max.. I even used a groupon. The stretches are always a great idea.
