Being on the other side sucks
History-I worked in radiology for over 20 yrs and did mammos for a couple of those. Being a patient is not my favorite thing, I like being the caregiver. Right before I had my annual mammo last week I had told my mom that for some reason I was actually having some anxiety this year. It may be because I have 4 friends of mine between 35-43yrs old going thru treatment right now. I am not sure but in my gut I just felt off.
That takes me to my screening where of course I would get called back because of a new cluster of calcifications in my right breast. Went back this past Monday for mag views and ultrasound. The radiologist could not determine exactly what he was looking at so he wants me to get a biopsy next Monday.
My report is a BiRads 4. Shows ill-defined, amorphous cluster of calcifications with a complicated cyst with associated shadowing. Hate having to wait to find out exactly what is going on.

CPB911, welcome! This is the club that no one wants to be a part of, for sure. Like you, I would MUCH rather be the caregiver than the patient. My short term advice is to stay as busy as you can until Monday... binge watch a new TV series, bake cookies, go for long walks, etc. Stay away from Google; there is a lot of inaccurate info out there. Even be careful here; until you know which threads apply to you it's easy to go down the wrong rabbit hole and scare yourself. At the biopsy on Monday, ask when you'll get your results and who will call- the radiologist, your PCP, whoever. (Since you've worked in radiology, you may know that already.) If you feel up to it, check back and let us know your biopsy results. I'll be thinking of you!

Cbp911, sorry you are here and waiting for biopsy results... but wanted to say welcome! We know the waiting is terrible, so please post here any time you need to vent. You are not alone in this wonderful Community!
Good luck, and let us know how it all goes!

dear cpb911, i can well understand how anxiety filled this waiting period can be but being a caregiver yourself, you must be able to access all the emotions a person goes through and how you used to ease them and ask them to think positively. every procedure takes time, this would too. all you need to do is to excise patience. i would suggest you to keep calm during this phase and spend quality time with your own self and your lovd ones. go out and have lunch/ dinner. go for shopping, eat good food and read books.you wont be as anxious as you are night now.
do post your results and share it with your breastcancer.org family as we also constitute a family.you are in my thoughts/

I am with you and understand the hating waiting part. Just got home from my stereostatic breast biopsy. My diognostic mammogram ended up being a birad 4b so here I am waiting for biopsy results which will take 7 to 10 days. Hate waiting but hoping all is benign. They took 9 samples and it was a cluster of calcifications. I have a strong history of breast cancer in my family but it still could be benign. I cam here for comfort and am feel it when I see people going through the same thing. Best of luck to anyone waiting for results.
