Ashwagandha? Safe for ER+?

Options

My depression and anxiety have been so bad! I’ve been upped on my Effexor and still so depressed. I tried Ashwagandha yesterday and have already been feeling less anxiety and a better mood. Of course only being two months out of chemo and this “new” life, I didn’t even consider if it could be bad that my breast cancer is estrogen and progesterone positive and I’m on Arimidex. Does anyone else use it with the same diagnosis?

Thank

mnsotamom my MO refers me to the memorial sloan kettering website for these types of questions. They have a very detailed herbal list, along with interaction concerns. mskcc.org and then do a search on herbs. Hope there are no contraindications and that it continues to help you!

thank you for the website, my surgeon advised me to try cbd for anxiety but I liked ashwaganda prior to all this cancer stuff, and cbd seems to do nothing. there’s some great ideas on that site I appreciate the info!

mnsotamom, how are you feeling these days? I'm dealing with the same struggles and things aren't improving.

How much/freuency ashwagandha, form are people using? Sloan Kettering has a general disclaimer on herbs, and only a few warning about ashwagndha and SEs, other health conditions, taken with other medications, pregnancy. Probably should take a look at those in case any apply. Drowsiness might be somnething to watch.

ashwagandha is amazing but my pharmacist told me that there is not enough research on how supplements interfere with AI.
