just returned from my second effortless long walk today with cooked lobsters and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc...what a difference a day makes...only last week, I had to stop 12 times to catch my breath during the same walk...and I'm not even tired...
what the heck is going on?? she wrote as she slowly sips the wine...hoping her liver won't scream bloody murder.....
I now wonder what effect alcohol has on parasites, fungus, et all
Are they going to get drunk and have a party??
.

Frisky, tell those little bastards that it's their farewell party! 😋

Something great is happening to you Frisky. Have a great weekend.

I was going to continue the talk about fungus-cancer ... but it's Friday night, Frisky may be (or not) a little drunk right now ... and I think I'll open a beer. We all deserve a break 🍺

Hip hip hooray Snooky! So happy to hear your good news.

Snooky I am so glad for you! Truly outstanding outcome! And yes, I get those "ishcemic changes" noted on mine, too. "Associated with normal aging", well OK I'll take it.
And yes, praying for a very good outcome to Nicole's scan as well. Let the blessings rain down.

Hello everyone, I've been following this thread pretty much from the beginning but have not had anything to contribute. I have decided to go on the COC protocol. I spoke with the nurse, joanie yesterday and now I have an email to choose one of the Dr who works in my area and set up a phone consult. Just trying to decide which Dr to choose. I am in pretty bad shape which seemed to happen very suddenly. Bad ascites. I had a peritoneal drain placed the day before yesterday. Tomorrow a nurse will come and show me how to drain. I had one paracentesis and I had to wait two weeks of misery for it so that's why I opted for this drain. I think what I have is pseudocirrhosis from xeloda. So far scans have nor shown exactly where cancer is but the fluid has cancer cells. I am on Verzenio and wed I have a PET. Thanks for all the info in this thread. I wish you all well and will keep you updated on my progress.
-
Oh, HLB, I don't know what to say. I am so very sorry you've had this new condition. You're in my prayers.
Wanted to mention that there is a thread here on the protocol. It's fairly new but has some activity.

I'm on Zeloda, so when you feel up to it. Could you please explain the conection.
-
Thanks snoopy. Apparently pseudocirrhosis is a rare complication of cancer treatment, where when the liver Mets are treated, it causes scarring and on scans looks like cirrhosis. My liver and kidneys always showed up normal on scans, and then suddenly one said "worsening cirrhosis with ascites" . I knew I was gaining in the belly and that explained it, although it was only a small amount of ascites. That was in Nov when the xeloda had stopped working and it was time to change TX. I went on abraxane which cleared up the ascites in one week. Next scan showed the same thing, cirrhosis, with the bone Mets mostly getting better and abraxane was continued. Then I had a few markers that were going up and I could tell I was getting ascites again. I switched to Verzenio and right after that all he'll seemed to break loose and the site became very big. One of the articles I read abt the pseudocirrhosis said that zeloda was one of the meds known to cause it. So that's where I am right now. So far none of my scans show any cancer except still in the bones, which I've had for 7 yrs. Hopefully the PET this Wed will give a little more info. I do think I should have been put on something that works more quickly to try to get things stabilized. Onc said well any treatment is going to work slower than the last one. Dumb answer imo. I just hope it's not too late for coc to help. I also ordered some graviola pills and tea bags.

Is anyone taking modified citrus pectin? If so how much do you take? I did see on MSK site that:
- You are taking lovastatin for high cholesterol: Pectin may inhibit the action of lovastatin and may increase LDL cholesterol.
- You are taking carotenoid and alpha-tocopherol supplements: Pectin interferes with their absorption.
I did a forum search and nothing came up so I am assuming we haven't discussed this yet? It's suppose to be very good on CTC's but I am wondering if that also means once you already have metastasis... -

graviola pills and tea bags. Very good idea. My dau-in-law is from the Phillipines. They call it soursop. She had a tree in her back yard and apparently it cured every thing! She talked of her grandma boiling tea leaves to make a tea. BUT, her aunt has had breast cancer for a long time and has kept it at bay. (no medical treatments) She (the aunt) uses, soursop, carrot juice and eats sweet potatoes. Of course comparing our treatment to another county's is iffy since we don't know what type of soil it grew in our the level of herbicides and pesticides used. But it's still good idea to use graviola. Very best of luck to you with it. And thanks for the explanation on Zeloda use.

Nicole, I took Modified Citrus Pectin: I used it during treatment prior to surgery. Apparently it helps prevent migration of cancer cells due to surgery. There is good evidence on it for preventing Prostate Cancer progression.
-
Santa..yes..I think i would be a little worried using it right before and right after surgery..(even though that is the best time) bc of bleeding more. I am looking into ordering it though and I am looking at the powder form maybe to put in a veggie smoothie
-
The modified citric pectin is not the same as that used for jams, right?
-
No it is not the same.
