DCIS and Radiation

Hi, my lumpectomy showed no residual DCIS or ADH. Margins were negative. Surgeon thinks that the CNB got it all out. The official pathology on the biopsy was of a borderline lesion of 3mm Max)btw adh and low grade Dcis)

Under these circumstances, would radiation still be a recommendation? Hormone therapy? I guess I’m asking : what would you do ? Thank you!

As far as I know radiation is always recommended following lumpectomy for DCIS. Has your BS referred you to a radiation oncologist?

This was just my situation: there was some pathology uncertainty between dx of DCIS, pure ADH, and borderline or “severe” ADH. It was all removed by the needle biopsy and excisional biopsy showed only fibrocystic changes. None of my doctors (at a major academic teaching hospital in nyc ) recommended radiation. When I reached menopause (2 years after dx), I chose to take Evista. It’s been a little over 8 years now since initial dx, and so far so good.
