HR+, pure DCIS. What dose of Tamoxifen were you prescribed?

My MO prescribed 5 mg day for 3 years. I think the study that found that the low dose of Tamoxifen conferred benefits to DCIS patients was fairly recent, so I assume doctors who are electing this dose would only have begun doing so within the last year or so. I have an acquaintance in another state who was prescribed the same, and I'm curious to know if there is a general trend toward this happening...?

I am 49, and my DCIS was intermediate grade ("relatively low risk lesion" was how more than one doctor described it to me). I had a lumpectomy and radiation. Perhaps young women, those who opt out of radiation, or those with high grade DCIS are still receiving a 'typical' dose?

I am 37, with hr+ dcis, grade 2,I asked for the 5mg option for 5 years and my MO readily agreed (based on the recent study). I just finished radiation and will start tamoxifen tomorrow. How is the 5 mg dose going for you?

I haven't started it yet. My MO told me to start within 3 months (it's been almost a month since I saw her), as I had to get off the antidepressant I was taking because it was not one recommended to take with Tamoxifen, and start a new one (and may yet switch again). I'm still getting that worked out so won't start until things are stabilized in that area.
