Hi ladies!

My mom is TN and she is on 4 DD AC plus 12 weekly taxol and carbo. I read that carbo is very effective for TN, and that it can increase the probability of PCR. What are your experiences with this chemo regimen?

Thanking you in advance,

Hi Kkmay, hows your mom doing now? Has she started carbo+taxol? Wondering what prompted them to add carbo after AC? Also is it weekly taxol and carbo or every 3 weeks

My oncologist is considering putting me on this regime too after I finish AC. I’m not TN, biopsy showed Her2 was equivocal by IHC and barely positive (ratio of 2.3 and 5 copies) by FISH.

    Hi there!

Her MO decided to add carbo because of the following:

    1) She is TN and many studies proved carbo is effective against TN

    2) Her initial tumor was very large

    3) Her MO did NOT think her response to AC was satisfactory

Her initial test of HER2 was equivocal then FISH determined it is negative. I think you will have a good response to Carbo since you are barely positive. She has started the regime and the SEs are similar to Taxol. Overall taxol + carbo regime is much more tolerable than AC so don’t worry!

It is weekly carbo and and weekly Taxol together.

    Wishing you all the best!

If you have a TNBC that is BRCA related or "BRCA=like" (basal) Carbo is thought to be very effective. I was prescribed Carbo & Taxotere for my chemo which is normally part of the Her2 chemo (TCHP).

santabarbrarian- What do you mean when you say it is BRCA related?

If your TNBC comes from having the BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene mutation, it's likely to respond to carboplatin.

My mom is on taxol/carbo right now. She just finished her 11th weekly infusion and has done very well on it. She will follow up with 4 DD AC after a 2 week break from finishing 12 weekly taxol/carbo. Her tumor as shrunk 75% in volume on that alone.

SE have been super low. Fatigue is the main one but didn’t really show up until after week 7-8. She’s a bit nauseated but says it’s not debilitating just queasy like morning-sickness.

How’d AC go for your mother?

    Hi!

My mom did AC first and now she is on taxol and carbo. AC was much harder on her than taxol and carbo combined. Her main SEs on AC were fatigue, low appetite, insomnia, and nausea. Fatigue hit her hard after AC# 3. She was not able to eat full meals on AC, she would eat very small meals and drink healthy juices rather than full meals which caused her to lose a lot of weight. On the worst days of AC, she could only have soups and juices. On the good side, her tumor shrunk considerably on the AC regime, much faster than the taxol and carbo. My mom is triple negative btw

hi. Jumpingin a bit late with a quick update. I also had carbo + Taxol. Fwiw, yesterday I received the news that my pathology report post surgery showed no residual cancer. So the chemo, carbo included, worked.
