What helps you sleep?

Options

I’m starting Arimedex in one week and already dealing with sleep disturbances still from the chemo. I’m trying to prepare myself as much as possible. I’m already taking 150 mg of Effexor and alternate between Benadryl and melatonin to help me get some sleep, I use Ambien only when I’ve gone many nights without rest. I’m planning on trying it in the morning but will switch to evening if that doesn’t work for me. I’d like to know what works for others to help with sleep so I can be prepared. Thanks in ad

I use a fan, usually blowing on me, helps with hot flashes. The steady, white noise puts me out. I also use melatonin nightly.

if melatonin and benadryl work for you then you're all set. They quit working for me and im allergic to ambien.

Consider adding meditation and there are some wonderful herbal blends that help alot. My favorite is called Deep Sleep.

    Good luck.

I use a bluetooth sleep mask and listen to music. It is good because it does not play right in my ears but I can still hear the meditation. I also employ the 4-7-8 breathing method to relax my body and then when my mind tries to wander I spell the word red, over and over till I conk out which does not take long.

The meditation music is also very calming so that if you wake or can't get to sleep, you can at least feel relaxed and at ease. Good luck.

A bedside fan and a muscle relaxant and headphones for music.

    sleep with me podcast https://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/

basically: man tells boring pointless stories for an hour.

I load up 8h worth in a playlist and have it ready on the bedside table. If I can't fall asleep or wake up at night, I turn it on (I wore regular small earbuds for a long time but now have a sleep headband thingy with flat headphones). I put it on so I can just barely hear him as he drones on and on. I've never heard an entire episode all the way through.

Regular exercise; sleeping with the window a crack open; no phone or screens in the bedroom.

For me the side effects of Arimidex took months to kick in. Good luck!

MexicoHeath, what type of muscle relaxer helps with sleep? My doctor put me on Lunesta this week but I’m still only averaging 4 hours of sleep
