I had DCIS, mastectomy. No further treatment. I'm 36, I guess I'm starting to age now (especially after having breast cancer, I feel prematurely over the hill). My breast cancer was hormone positive. I'm not on hormonal drugs. But I seem to now have patches of melasma on my face, two, on the left side of my body (same as cancer side). When I read about it, it says this happens most in women when the get pregnant, that it signals hormonal change, that it sometimes goes away after birth control is stopped. I'm not on birth control or pregnant. Could it be a sign that my body is still "overloaded" with estrogen? I know that's not how it works exactly..... but I don't feel good, my face has had other problems in the past 2-3 years (about a year before diagnosis), I don't have an oncologist, my doctors won't even let me do blood work (the last time I did was before mastectomy) because I'm "young and healthy" and I can't afford to go to a dermatologist on my own outside of my medicaid network..... OH - and my doctors make fun of me for looking things up online and condescendingly write in the clinician notes "patient mentions she has been googling things" uh, yeah cuz you medical professionals give me no answers. Though obviously I need to follow up with some things.
