Weight After Tamoxifen Here to Stay?

Options

I was 54 at diagnosis and perimenopausal (period down to every 5 months or so). I gained about 5 lbs during chemo and stopped getting my period. I've been done with chemo and on Tamoxifen for about six months. I have this new belly that will not go away. I'm eating the way I used to when I wasn't happy with a few extra pounds (no sugar, low carb, reasonable calories, zero junk) but I'm having no results. My oncologist says I'd be gaining weight if I weren't dieting! So this is my question: After the next 4.5 years from now when I'm off Tamoxifen will this new found weight struggle go away? or is this my new normal? I have no other SE's and am glad it could be saving my life but dang!

Rach, I was 50 at diagnosis, fairly fit and happy.I weighed 147 or so before my first chemo, and 150 at the end. This past nov after close to 3 years on tam I weighed 160lbs. When I hit that knew a change was in store. I'm down 14 lbs since then, and working towards a more natural 135 lb for my body type. I have committed to working out 30 min a day 5 days a week and calorie counting. Hopefully I'll reach my goal by June. No special diet but I do use the live strong 'Stronger' work outs combined with workouts from a trainer friend. All the best to you
