Has anyone taken Zometa to reduce chance of recurrence and how did they feel after taking it. I have been recommended it and am getting myself prepared.

I get zometa infusions every six months to strengthen bones that are being weakened by AI and also to prevent bone mets. I have had no trouble at all with it I’m happy to say! Good luck!

Thanks so much. I hope I will have the same response. The doctor said sometimes people feel flu like for a few days. Was the infusion comfortable and how long does it take? Do you have any side effects from it?

    Hello,

I will be having my second Zometa infusion next week. I experienced flu like symptoms for 2 days after my first Zometa infusion. I was SO ACHY I could hardly stand it! I did have some bone pain too for a few days. I had my port still in when I did the first infusion- real simple, I was in and out of the oncology office in 30 minutes. There are no pre meds and I didn't experience any nausea. And so far no lingering side effects. My infusions are given every 6 months to prevent bone mets and strengthen my bones.

I no longer have my port so I'm dreading the IV in my hand for the next infusion. My Oncologist said the same, some have a reaction, some do not. I may be just fine this time. I will post my experience next week

Thanks for the response. Did you feel back to yourself after 2 days. I heard you can feel achy for a couple of days but you would feel better by the third day. I have to travel and do something important 5 days after. Did you feel ok by then? I am wondering if I should postpone the treatment or if I will feel fine within 5 days.

I also go for a Zometa infusion every 6 months. After the first one, I felt so achy I could hardly move the next morning. I took some Tylenol and felt fine. I have had no issues at all after the next 3 infusions. The last one, the nurse tried to put the IV in the back of my hand. I almost passed out. She went back to my arm after that. Hope all goes well. You should be fine 5 days after to travel.

I have had 2 Zometa IV's and no problem with either.  The first day is fine the second day a little achy but so use to be achey it really didn't bother me.  I get them every six months and takes about 30 mins.

    Thanks Ladies

Perfect timing on this thread. I’m have my first infusion tomorrow. I was told about it right after I had my port removed. My oncologist said it’s only about a five minute infusion. I too will get it every six months. I’m most nervous about the needle. They can only use my left arm. Thanks for the info
