Breast pain?
Hi. I could feel my tumor. It didn't hurt much at all, but I recall that months or even a year before it was found I used to get a pinching pain enough to grab that breast to relieve it. I was curious how many of us actually have had pain from a tumor? Also, was any breast pain you had from a different cause? What was the cause? For the last week I was chalking this up to weights and perhaps a muscle strain from exercise. Yesterday, however, the pain seem to change to be more hurts to touch and pinches on certain movements. This "pain" is also in the general area of surgery. Upper inner 11:00 position. Scar tissue? I cannot feel anything in there that remotely feels like a tumor--tumors are odd shaped and my dense tissue feels like just that -dense-no odd shaped bumps. I was obsessing over it all day yesterday since it was Sunday. I'm calmer today and just wanted to ask and see if anyone had anything similar. Would you recommend a hot or cold compress? I hoping it resolves as I'm giving it until after Easter and then I'll start really worrying. Thank you!

I did not have pain with either tumor, but I do get pain from time to time from scar tissue. I see a breast specialist PT who does scar massage and a few other things, nad it has helped.

I had pain deep inside my breast. I was 100% sure it wasn't cancer because I was told over and over when I had IDC that cancer doesn't present with pain as a symptom! I was wrong!
This time I had ILC at the spot where I had the pain. It didn't show up on the mammogram but I had an immediate ultrasound that showed an area of suspicion.
Karen, I am confused. Did you have a lumpectomy on a reconstructed breast? I ask because I had a mastectomy and although I know a recurrence can occur I didn't know it could be treated with a lumpectomy.
I thought I would be an expert on breast cancer having had it twice, but it seems the more I know, the more I realize there is much more I don't know!
Is it terrible that all I want to do it return to my job and forget all about breast cancer? I go back in May!

Pain was my first and most urgent symptom, but I had a fast growing tumor that kinda exploded in a very short amount of time. I have heard, but not experienced, that scar tissue can cause the kind of pinch you are describing. I think your plan, wait until after the holiday weekend, is a good one. It does not hurt (so to speak) to get it checked out and put your mind at ease, but nothing is going to happen over the next few days so enjoy your holiday and try not to obsess. Sometimes just deciding to so something can relieve the anxiety so if you decide to call for an appointment on Monday it may be enough to put it to the back of your mind for now.

I had BC recurrence after mastectomy, so when they take out the tumor and excise around it, they termed it a "lumpectomy". Basically, it was removal of the tumor and a huge margin.
I did not have pain with my recurrence, but some people do have pain with BC. If the issue persists, definitely get it checked.

Yesterday I had a root canal done so I didn't think about the breast pain much!! LOL
Keeping a tight bra on 24/7 see if that helps. It does feel a bit better today. Thank you for the replies.

Now that the root canal pain is gone, back to the breast. It still hurts, not a lot. Will give it another week. I am set up already for an MRI in early June which is only 6 weeks away. If this were to be something things don't move so fast anyway, right? If I can't keep my mind off of it though, I will call sooner.

i had a double mastectomy in Feb, 2018. Today I'm dealing with breast pain, near the inner breast plate (could be the pec muscle) in the breast that had NO cancer. Is this common? It's very tender to the touch... a little worried...

Virgo, I've applied the 2 week rule that others speak of here. If the pain persists then I would get it checked.
For me, I am doing better. I am 99% sure I injured my own breast exercising. I feel it's a bruise and the pain is less and less each day and that heavy feeling (like something is there) has gone. Amazing how tender and vulnerable that area still is. Also, how much longer it takes for a bruise anywhere on my body to go away. That is probably a SE of the AI?
The trainer doing the class has modified certain stations for me and we have lowered the amount of any weight exercises to no more than 10 lbs. for now, until I'm completely healed.
Take care.

Hi, I am having pitting edema of the lower half of my breast and pain. I did not realize it was edema until a bra I wore left a ridge that took awhile to go away. I was recently put on Lyrica for extreme pain in my ribs, arm and chest. it makes me dizzy in an hour and I end up having trouble getting out of bed until 15 hours!!! I work 3 days a week and don't have that luxury. I had negative chest X-ray and bone scan recently and that is when they gave me Lyrica. Now I will email the breast surgeon about the edema and that my nipple seems pulled in a bit. You would think we went through enough but the after effects are just as bad.

This pain in the breast went away for a bit and now it's back. #1 cancer wouldn't do that right? Plus I recite my stats in my head everyday that it's almost statistically impossible for this B*&#H to come back so soon. #2. Scheduled for an MRI 10-Jun so I hope to get an explanation. Hope I don't get a false positive but I am pretty sure I can undergo a biopsy if needed. This section is helpful. To read other topics and know that this could be numerous other things. Fat necrosis being one of them, scar tissue.
Thanks for listening, remaining calm and will be back in a few weeks with an answer!

Hoping all comes back clear.

Morning! Got my MRI results. Didn't exactly pass, but I didn't fail either. BIRADS 3.
Left breast assessment:
Probably benign. 1 cm focal area of enhancement on the periphery of the seroma cavity, likely corresponding to postsurgical changes, yet follow-up MRI is recommended for this probably benign finding.
My right side is fine.
My gut is telling me this is an injury, as I have noted here. I need to take better care of myself. I gave myself the seroma 3 weeks post op by folding laundry without wearing proper support! Wish me luck with my BS appt. on Monday. I hope she will listen to me and not send me for a biopsy. I'm fine with the short interval follow up of 6 months. I feel it will resolve by then with better care/support and taking it easy on the weights.
-
My gut was right for once. Saw the BS today and she said it's a seroma. Take some advil after exercising! I'm going to try and be more careful and hope it will resolve on its own, however, there's a chance it won't and I will be living with it. I'll take the annoying pain over cancer any day!
I did get a little worked up after the visit. I have to get both a MRI and Mammo in 6 mos and see BS after testing. I don't have a standing appt. with my MO, and she would order the DEXA and lung scan. Since all this crap started my primary gave all the orders for all these tests, and I had them done all at the same time. Now, something has to give with all the different Dr.s and what they do. So, I made an appt. with my MO for September and her tests will just have to get pushed another 3 months to coincide with my next appt. with her. My BS won't budge yet from 6 months, and it seems counterproductive to see both Dr's in the same month, right??? Here's hoping my MO will let my DEXA go 'til March 2020 instead of wanting it at the 2 yr. mark which is December It makes sense to me. I trust she will understand.
