When a patient presents to their doctor with a particular set of breast symptoms, these criteria recommend which exams should be done. Some use a numerical Rating Scale: 1,2,3 Usually not appropriate; 4,5,6 May be appropriate; 7,8,9 Usually appropriate

===================

"The ACR Appropriateness Criteria® are evidence-based guidelines funded solely by the American College of Radiology to assist referring physicians and other providers in making the most appropriate imaging or treatment decision for a specific clinical condition. By employing these guidelines, providers enhance quality of care and contribute to the most efficacious use of radiology."

"The guidelines are developed and reviewed annually by expert panels in diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. Each panel includes leaders in radiology and other specialties. In 2019, there are 188 Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology topics with over 908 variants and for our Diagnostic Imaging topics over 1,670 clinical scenarios."
