I wish I understood my biopsy report

Back in July I had a biopsy due to calcifications. My results were “fibrofatty breast tissue exhibiting focal fibrocystic changes with stromal fibrosis, fibroadenomatoid changes and focal adenosis with associated calcifications, no atypia seen”

I was so relieved to hear all I needed was another mammogram in 6 months as a follow up I never asked my GP (who I admit isn’t the greatest but I’ve never had any health problems so I stay with her) to explain what this all meant.

I should have gone back in February, but only finally got around to getting my 6 month mammo referral and now my appointment is this Friday. I find myself as scared and anxious as I was the first time around. I’m worried I waited too long to follow up.

Do the findings from my original biopsy indicate a higher risk of cancer? Are any of those findings something that could “turn into” cancer? Ever since my first go around with this I worry that any and every pain in my body is some type of cancer. I also worry that the biopsy somehow didn’t get a good enough sample.

    Hi,

I always had fibrocystic breasts and fibroadenomas. Fibroadenomas are benign and they do not evolve into cancer. Please calm down. Get everything explained to do in detail this time around.
