Hi everyone!

Just wondering can a patient get re-stsged during/after chemotherapy according to their response to their therapy? And thereby have a different prognosis?

If one has an good response to chemo can she get down-staged?

I am doing chemo first and my oncologist and surgeon both said I’d be “restated” after chemo. I was originally staged at “between 2and 3” but told they would not know for sure until after chemo and surgery.

Since the tumor was originally 6+cm and is now not palpable, I’m expecting a “downgrade “.

I got staged in my post surgery pathology report as IIIB after neo adjuvant chemo and surgery. I can't remember if I got staged in my core needle biopsy pathology report, but my MO told me mine was locally advanced. It may affect your further treatment plan according to your response to chemo. I am not sure how it will affect your prognosis by the response to chemo. My MO never talked about prognosis to me, only said cancer is very tricky. My surgeon said BC is in particular very sneaky. I never asked my doctors about my prognosis.
