Clinical staging of breast cancer

area 1 is 2.0 x 1.0 x 0.6 cm (biopsied via ultrasound)

area 2 is 1.1 x 0.9 x 0.8 cm (biopsied via MRI)

area 3 is 2.4 cm of linear non-mass enhancement (biopsied via MRI)

All areas are within close proximity and measure in total 6.4 cm.

If all are malignant, will they clinically grade using the total 6.4 cm measurement or the largest mass measurement of 2.4 cm?

Thank you.

I am 99% sure that they use the largest mass measurement.

Thank you jessie123! It looks like we have a similar diagnosis. I'm hoping for no node involvement after my lumpectomy on the 18th of this month!

EngJojo ---- Good luck with your lumpectomy. I was so terrified before mine, but it was a breeze to go through. I had one drain because I had a large amount of breast tissue removed. The drain wasn't even bad. You don't have to sit up to sleep -- I don't think it even compares to the Mastectomy people's experiences. I've had 3 friends with Lobular --- none had node involvement.
