I am happy to find this site and am still learning everything I need to prepare for.

I had a biopsy done on the lymph nodes on 02/25 and was told I am estrogen receptor positive. The doctor wanted to do more tests, including mammogram, ultra sound, bone density, then followed by another biopsy on the 03/25, the doctor discussed treatment with me. Will have the port placement next Wednesday. Doctor now scheduled my first chemo on 04/23.

Does it normally take this long to begin treatment?

    Hi fac03,

It really does depend on your treatment center. Is this a comprehensive cancer center? Did you have a second biopsy or a lumpectomy to remove the tumor and some surrounding tissue? Or is this chemo neoadjuvant (that is, treatments given to weaken and destroy breast cancer BEFORE surgery)? Were you given the opportunity to ask for an earlier appointment?

    Keep us posted.
