Freaking out
yesterday I noticed a red area on the under side of my breast about a quarter in size. Its flat, red. Smooth, not itchy or painful, not thickened. I thought maybe it's from wearing the same bra for a few days that i was sweaty in (the rest of my bras were already in the wash) I'm going to call my doctor because now I'm freaking out about ibc. I dont have the other symptoms I've read about, but I have this red area that is slightly warm to the touch. I do also have anxiety, which makes this so much worse

Go get checked, but don’t be panicked. Skin conditions, even on your breast, are usually just that-skin conditions. The warm damp area under your breasts is particularly susceptible to fungal infections, just like sthletes foot.

I went to the dr and they said they think its derm but it hasn't gone away. It's been the same for almost a month now. I cant get with a dermatologist until June. I'm going back to the ob Friday to beg for a punch biopsy.
I'm so scared.

IBC spreads very quickly (and often gets worse day by day), so the chances of this being IBC are exceedingly slim.. Outline it with a marker. If it has not gone away, it may just need a different skin cream. Skin conditions, especially on the chest, can be very persistent. Unfortunately, when you google rash on breast, IBC comes up and freaks everyone out. Return to your doc and see if they can find something that'll work to get rid of it. It's good that you're aware of your body and addressing anything new.

The waiting game is the worst. I’m in the same boat right now. I was seen a few weeks ago with thickened, peau d’orange skin, red and crusty nipple, and severe itching. I was sent for a mammo and ultrasound that confirmed the thickening which lead me to a breast specialist. She requested an MRI as I have extensive family history of breast and ovarian cancer. MRI was denied...TWICE! I’m not really sure what else to do. I just want answers. It makes me insane feeling like I’m not in control of my own health! I truly hope you get answers soon. I’d be grateful for any advice anyone has.

I would call the dermatologist again and tell them your family history, symptoms and fears. Maybe there is a partner there that will see you. I experienced a bad nipple rash--no flaking, just redness and burning. My PCP's blew me off and mammogram was clear. My sweet dermatologist understood my fears and past history and offered a punch biopsy. No results yet, but I am on my way to finding something out, at least.

Jerz, Ask a dermatologist or a gyn for a punch biopsy. I had one at a gyn office for an unrelated issue. It was quick and I had results the next day (Though places vary on that). A dermatologist should be able to do that too.

Thank you both for your input! I have a call into the GYN and hoping to hear back today. Sflow, I hope you get good news

my gynecologist thinks it's a skin condition, which my rational brain knows hes probably right, but my anxiety gets the better of me. He went do a punch biopsy but is sending me for an ultrasound just to be sure. I'm going to call around to other dermatologists to see if I can get an appt sooner than june
