Breast cancer spread to bones (recurrence #2)

Newly diagnosed with bone mets..... I had a biopsy last week that confirmed the cancer appearing in some bones is related to my original breast cancer diagnosis (first in 1998 and then first recurrence in 2016). Although continuing to have to battle this beast is tiring I do consider this good news and I'm hopeful it makes my treatment options very manageable! Because the tumors are contained in the bone with no soft tissue involvement, this means I will NOT have to have chemotherapy (yay!) and no anticipated surgeries. Treatment will consist of immunotherapy (ribociclib) to help minimize bone lesions as well as an additional hormonal therapy drug taken daily (anastrozole). I will also have bone injection treatments every 3 months to help strengthen weak bones caused not only by cancer cells but any other weak joints within the body. Radiation therapy is still a possibility as well although I won't know the extent of that treatment plan until I have the MRI this week. Overall this is the best news I was expecting so I am feeling somewhat relieved and can now focus on at least this part of the healing process!
