What Type Of Cancer will it be

Tomorrow I find out what type of cancer Is in my lung. My oncologist has told me that they do not do a biopsy unless they suspect cancer . She suspects mets to lung and possibly a spot on my spine. The mass in my lung is about 7mm. Just wondering if anyone has had a mass that size with it being mets and was there any other parts of the body affected? I'm just terrified of the unknown. I hope I have the strength for my boys. If there is any encouraging words out there I could sure use them now. thank you thank you

Well I didn't get all the results I wanted. But the lung specialist says that he believes its not small cell lung cancer. He is ordering a PETS test and an MRI to my brain. He said that way when the pathology results come in from the lung samples they will be prepared for a plan and treatment. He's pretty sure its cancer but which one he doesn't know It seems they are leaning towards breast cancer mets. I just want to get started if I need treatment. I feel like a sitting duck.

Pippy, I am sorry to hear that it is most likely cancer. There are women on these boards that have been living with lung mets for 8, 10 or more years. There is hope and your tumor (if it is in fact a tumor) is very small. You may be a candidate for local therapy such as radio frequency ablation or SBRT. For people with one or only a few breast cancer mets in the lung or liver, doctors still consider that they have a possibility of "curing" the patient.

You may have heard about Judy Perkins whose case was recently presented to the US Congress, where she is being considered "cured" by the clinical trial doctors who treated her at the National Cancer Institute. She cycled through 12 or so treatments in 2 years and was planning to go to hospice when she decided to give the trial a try. Her MO at home thought she was crazy. However, her mets disappeared in the tumor infiltrating lymphocytes trial and she hasn't had to be on treatment since. Keeping you in my thoughts. Keep us posted.
