Malignant Adenocarcinoma

I just got my pathology report back from an FNA. The radiologist wasn't expecting it to be anything but it turned out to be adenocarcinoma with malignant cells. The report says nothing else except describing what the cells look like under the microscope, which is helpful to a doctor, but not to me. I have another biopsy on Tuesday - an ultrasound core needle biopsy as I have two suspicious areas (BI-RADS 4b was my mammo). Has anybody else here been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma and can you tell me what your course of treatment was. I see my surgeon and oncologist on March 11th. I have been with them since being diagnosed with DCIS in 2009 so I already have a team.

Tova, what exactly does your report say? Most breast cancers (ductal and lobular) are adenocarcinoma. Does it specify ductal or lobular? In situ or invasive? You may not have a lot of info until the new biopsy results come in

Thanks for asking Melissa. My report says nothing useful to me! It doesn't specify ductal or lobular, invasive or non-invasive. It just says positive for malignant cells and on a new line it says adenocarcinoma. It was only and FNA though so they only took cells out, not tissue. I imagine the US core biopsy or the other site will tell me more, although I don't know if the two sites are related yet. I don't even know if this is a recurrence or a second primary.
