I'm having an intraductal papilloma removed a week from Monday. I saw my BS a few days ago and he explained the procedure to me. My papilloma is pretty small (4mm) and is very deep, almost to my chest wall in the 1:00 position. In order to find it during surgery, I'm having a SCOUT procedure on Monday. Instead of a wire a small reflector the size of a grain of rice is injected into the tumor (ultrasound guided) prior to the day of surgery. The reflector is passive until the surgeon activates it the day of surgery, it then emits radar waves to detect the location of the tumor. The reflector is removed with the breast the tumor. I thought that sounded pretty cool, sorry of like GPS in my boob. Has anyone had this done before? He also said he would be removing 5% of my breast tissue, which seems like a lot. He said he kind of shuffles things around while he's in there in order to decrease the chance of a dimple developing. I have tiny breasts, 34A, so I'm afraid taking 5% of one of them would be very noticeable. If you've had a tumor removed, was it noticeable afterwards? I mean after you were all healed up?
