Back in NOV 2018, I had my 40th mammo. I got a called back for more images due to 2 masses seen in the screening mammo. After the diagnostic mammo and ultrasound done at my local hospital, one mass was determined to be a benign cyst (12 o’clock position, RB) and the other was a solid mass (8 o’clock position, RB). The radiologist said the mass wasn’t overly concerning and we could do a follow up in 6 months or a core needle biopsy right away (he could sense I was nervous and suggested the biopsy for peace of mind and I agreed). I had the biopsy on the MON of Thanksgiving week (same radiologist performed it) and was lucky enough to receive my B9 results 24 hours later (fibrosis). I did go to a surgeon who deals with a lot of breast cancer patients at a teaching hospital on the south side of Chicago. They reviewed path and images and agreed with my local hospital. The surgeon has said it would be easier if I went to the breast imaging center that is affiliated with her hospital but said it’s completely up to me (for 6 month follow up). I went there once for my previous mammo (37 due to palpable lump that was determined to be an island of breast issue). But I never saw the radiologist and once they determined the lump was an island of tissue, my follow up appt was cancelled with the surgeon. I felt like I had questions and no support. This clinic is high volume (I think they treat the most amount of breast cancer in IL). My local hospital is an acredited breast imaging center and I feel like there is more support but maybe less experience. The breast radiologist at the local hospital is in his 30’s (found him on LinkedIn...LOL). I have no clue who I will and up with in Oak Lawn clinic up north
