Recommendation for bra

Options

hello. I just had my surgery. had bilateral masectomy with no reconstruction. saw my surgeon yesterday and she doesnt want me wearing any prosthetics for 2 months since they're heavy and she wants to make sure the scar heals right. She said I can wear the soft ones like knitted knockers or something that had a pouch inserted in the bra like insert.

Any recommendations? I have a camisole I got for post surgery but i dont like it and prefer like a sports bra or something more comfortable.

Thank you In advance!

I'm a uni, but I'm a big fan of camisoles with shelf bra/pockets as they aren't as tight around the sides, hang more comfortably and are less likely to ride up. I have an Amoena Valetta camisole with a structured shelf bra and double spaghetti straps that I really like. It's easy to fill the cups with fiberfill forms, they have a little foam lining on the cup to help the stuffing look consistent on both sides, and you can tuck it in to pants so the chest area is less likely to move up. AnaOno also makes very soft camisoles with pockets as well. They make a lot of products that look good with or without forms - the fabric expands when filled, lays flat when it's not - which is more flexible than most designs.

I recommend whatever you get, have adjustable shoulder straps that are not tight. Without weight in the cups, you will need your chest to hang down at a comfortable level, not be pulled up (as per the usual function of a bra).

What kind of sports bra are you looking for, structured or yoga-type?

    Yoga-type/front close:
Hanes front close bra (available on Amazon; unstructured leisure/yoga bra)
Cheap front-zip sports bras (like Wanayou on Amazon; comfortable but not super soft synthetic fabric; variable sizing)
Amoena Hannah (front-close bra with pockets; cottony, comfortable, will not be smooth under a tee, fixed straps)
Amoena Frances (similar to Hannah, not as structured; I found the shoulder straps too short and the band too big)

    More structured/support:
    Amoena sports bra looks comfortable.
I have this similar one, that might be an option if your forms stay put in it:
Champion Spot Comfort (a non-mastectomy sports-bra that is soft and has adjustable/not-super-stretchy straps)

    Other:
AnaOno Sports Bra (has good reviews, but you have to step into it - took me 3-4 weeks to be able to step into/pull up things)
AnaOno Delilah Dream Soft Cup (more of a leisure/sleeping bra, that you step into)

I love the Still You camisole. It's made from a soft material and has a very comfortable shelf bra with pockets -- really good for your stage shortly after surgery. You can wear it with soft unweighted forms. It's a bit pricey, but I've worn mine for years and they're still going strong. They can be machine washed but I like to line dry mine.

Although I'm over twelve years out of surgery, I still use these camisoles almost every day. They're especially wonderful for exercise. I feel as if I have nothing on when I use them with my unweighted TruLife foam forms.
