Mend Together: Registry to help people going through cancer

We have a new resource we'd like to introduce you to called Mend Together (www.mendtogether.com) who has created a registry, like a wedding registry, but for cancer patients. It's a new way that friends, family and colleagues can help a cancer patient with recovery.

Specifically, they are looking for patients and caregivers to create a registry and provide early feedback. As a thank you for your time, each person will receive a $50 site credit once the registry has $250 in total contributions/gifts. In addition, Mend Together will donate $20 to Breastcancer.org on the patient's behalf.

How it works:

• Create a registry at www.mendafter.com and enter the code BCORG$50
• Mend Together will suggest products, services and cash funds based on your specific treatments and symptoms
• You choose which items you think could help you the most
• If you feel it could help someone else, or you, share your registry link via social media and/or e-mail to help others help in a meaningful way

Another registry that I have personally been blessed by is called elixerfund.org, created by a sister who lost her brother to cancer. It was WONDERFUL, and so practical and loving to receive gifts off this registry (that you the cancer patient, friend Or family can create).

These organizations make living with cancer less lonely and physically and emotionally exhausting.

Hi everyone! Just here to update the Mend Together information!

Mend Together's gift + cash registry, community journal, and volunteer calendar are all designed to help others learn what to say, do and give to someone battling cancer.

How it works:

Patients (or a helper) can register for over 300 healing products, services and cash funds -- as well as send updates to loved ones. Friends and family send encouraging words, choose a gift to send, or simply contribute funds.

I also really like the site Mend Together. I am starting a profile on the site so I can better answer the question, "How can I help?". I registered for products that will help after surgery. It's so nice to get this kind of support instead of flowers.

I registered for the site as well; best not to use an iPhone or iPad, as the site is in beta stage and much more compatible with a regular computer
