Amazonian Warrior Masectomy Art

Hey Everyone, 

Grateful to find this resource and hope you can help! My mom just had her masectomy for stage IV breast cancer last week and my therapist was telling me of the legend of Amazonian warrior women removing one breast so they had a strong bow and arrow shot; I've read about it and whether or not it's true, I'm not sure but think the myth is so cool and empowering. I've scoured the internet searching for a cool print of this and am surprised not to find anything at all.. If only I could paint! I was hoping to get us matching or coordinating pieces or some type of empowering art. Do you know of anything or if not, have other gift ideas that will make her feel loved? Thank you

Sorry, but this appears to be a myth, see the link below. Explains why you can't find the art. Wishing your mom the best, and I'm sure you will find a way to artistically empower you both!

Amazonwarrior38, your search strikes a chord here. My oncologist's office had a beautiful sculpture of an Amazon, whose tunic revealed a missing breast. Like you, I have searched the internet for at least an image of this sculpture, without success. I'm pretty good at internet searches and I just can't find it.

In all probability it's a myth, since no ancient art depicts an Amazon with just one breast. Nevertheless, it's totally cool. Real or not, I would love to have that sculpture. It depicts strength, courage, and victory.

I'll keep searching for something appropriate. Blessings--SB
