Weight Loss

Options

I finished chemo almost 6 months ago and feel great considering what my body has been through since May 2018. I have been tracking my weight and since February 1st I’ve lost a little over 9 pounds but I haven’t been trying to lose. Is that excessive and should I call my doctor? I go in this morning for a port flush but not scheduled to see a doctor. I hate freaking out like this but I am so scared of a recurrence or metastasis. Just wondering what fellow survivors might say about it. Thanks

Yes, you should tell them. My doctors always ask me if I lost weight (even though they measure it every time I go and keep track of it). Once I told her I gained and she said that is of no interest, only if I loose becomes of concern. 9 lb weight loss in three weeks without even trying is unusual. There could be something else going on, unrelated to cancer, like a thyroid dysfunction.

It's worth a look; it could be related to heartburn as a chemo long term side effect (which was the case with me) but in any case, mention it to them.
