edited February 2019 in Waiting for Test Results

I’m a 47 year old who after finding architectural distortion in two Mammograms and one Ultrasound, I had my stereotactic Core Needle Biopsy Today. The radiologist was wonderful and explained the concern, multiple spiculated areas of distortion. I had one biopsy done on the left side of my right breast where they took 12 samples. Immediately followed by a second biopsy on the right side of the right breast where they also took 12 samples. After seeing them she had 17 samples sent to pathology. Has anyone had any experience with multiple spiculated areas? Please share with me your story. It will help me tonight to know I am not alone as I’m wrapped in ice packs and fillled with concern. Thank you so very much!

Hi Lisa, hope the ice packs are helping with any discomfort! I definitely felt like they helped! I don’t have experience with what you are describing. I just wanted to say I understand how hard it is to be waiting for results. It sounds like you had a great radiologist that performed your biopsy. So glad he was able to answer your questions and concerns. I am sending good thoughts for you, let us know the results.

I'm at the same stage as you. Also on Friday I had stereotactic biopsies done on my left breast due to asymmetry. I had ultrasound guided core biopsies on my right breast too. Still sore and bandaged up.

The waiting is tough. I've tried to be hopeful but still cry sometimes. Let's hope that both of us get good news soon.

I received my results today and it was good news! I have a large radical sclerosing scar. Because of the size, they don't want to take it out but are sending me for an MRI to be certain there are not any cancer cells hiding within. I feel good and hope you receive good news as well!

Thank you so much buffalowings! I spoke to the surgeon today and they are ordering an MRI to be certain that nothing is hiding within any of the areas not biopsied - but I have a weight lifted. Thank you for your kind thoughts and words!

So glad to hear you got good news! Hoping for a clear MRI too.

I'm still waiting for my results. At the very least I have an appointment Monday at the Breast Health Center.

Well, I got my biopsy results back. Not so good. All biopsies on the left were benign. On the right, I have invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 2, clinical stage 1, triple positive, zero nodes.

I've already met with a surgeon and an oncologist. I will also have an appointment at Dana-Farber soon. Proposed treatment so far has been lumpectomy followed by taxol/Herceptin, radiation and anastrozole.
