Questionable pathology results

My mom and I were suppose to go in today for her biopsy results. The doctor called her and called me as well to let us know they were waiting on more test. She has alot of sclerosing adenosis in the tissue samples making it difficult but he said it was very suspicious and he was almost sure it was going to be cancer. He said the pathologist didn’t feel comfortable calling it so he was sending it off for more testing. He has already sent it off to test receptors as well because he is confident it is going to be cancer. I guess I am just confused as to how it can be questionable. It either has cancer cells or it doesnt, correct? Also, I am guessing and hoping that it is really early since it is even questionable? And still holding out hope that it isn’t cancer
