NYC plastic surgeons
Hi..I am in the process of scheduling bi lateral mastectomy. Diagnosed with DCIS in 2010 on the left, lumpectomy and radiation and now diagnosed with DCIS on the right. Because there are so many good choices in NYC for plastic surgeons, I am having difficulty deciding and would love input from anyone who might have used Dr Sultan or Dr Kolker?
Really appreciate any information I can gather.
THANK YOU!!

I know this is an old post, but I found it awhile back when I was still searching for a plastic surgeon/breast surgeon team to perform my prophylactic mastectomy. I figured I would respond now and give my recommendation in case someone else is looking In NYC like I was.
I had my surgery at NYU hospital and used Dr. Amber Guth as my breast surgeon and Dr. Thanik as my plastic surgeon, and I am beyond happy.
Dr. Thanik is by far the BEST. I was iffy about scheduling a consultation with him at first because there were practically no reviews online for him, but I booked an appt, and felt comfortable with him from the get-go. He's really easy to talk to; I never felt rushed; his office was always great getting back to me; I never waited long to see him; and most importantly, he did an amazing job!
My breasts look way better than they did before, and I'm only 3 months post op, I couldn't be happier!! I'm so glad I trusted my gut and chose him as my plastic surgeon, and I HIGHLYrecommend him.
Feel free to private message me if you have any questions.

hi kay2011
Glad things went well and you were pleased with the outcome. Your post prompted me to also provide information in case it might be useful fo someone else. I ended up using Dr Port as my breast surgeon at Mount Sinai and Dr Sultan for reconstruction. They were a great team and worked well together. They also considered all my input when making decisions about what I felt most comfortable with in terms of size and possible incision locations etc. I did have some post surgical complications (because of prior radiation) and Dr Sultan was amazing with his response and finding the right course of action. I would highly recommend him and his office staff. They were great in every aspect during not such a great time.
Also, happy to provide additional, if anyone has additional questions

For anyone considering DIEP in NYC,I used Rache Simmons for my breast surgeon and David Otterburn for my PS - they're at Weil Cornell and I'm very happy with the outcome. Both communicated with me in a detailed and respectful manner, laid out the various options and after I'd made my decision did a great job with my skin sparing BMX with immediate DIEP recon.
