My wife is on an the dose intense chemo with A/C/T every 2 weeks for a total of 4 chemo session. This coming friday will be the last chemo session.

She has started having a lot of post nasal drip, running nose and coughing a few days after her chemo. Do any of you also experienced this side effects? Oncologist told us to use antihistamines. We have tried Claritin, Zyrtec-D, and Allegra-D. Nothing helps =( He also gave her some cough syrup (Robitussin AC prescription drug). That also didn't help her. She has not been able to get much sleep. We would like to know if there are other things you have tried which could help

hello there! I am on AC +T chemo - finished the AC part and am on the Taxol -have completed 7 of 12 of those. Yes, I do have the post nasal drip, runny nose and the coughing. I didn't have it with the AC dense dose portion, but I am having it with the Taxol. Part of the runny nose thing has to do with the fact we ladies lose our nose hairs during chemo, I can just lean over and have a drippy runny nose. Has your wife tried Benedryl yet? Benedryl might be a good 2 prong attack, its a antihistamine and it can also help you sleep at the same time :) I find it helped me on both fronts. Give it a whirl! Best of luck to your wife as she wraps up chemo, congrats to her! :)
