Pre-op assessment

I have my pre-operative assessment tomorrow and I am not sure about what happens at this appointment. I was first diagnosed in December and was told I would have this appt but for the life of me I can't remember what they said except blood work. I received the reminder call and there were no directions such as don't eat before, etc.

I do have a CT scan afterwards and was told not eat a few hours before that.

Any info on what to expect would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I had to do chest xray, EKG.and blood labs. No special instructions like no food or drink. Very quick , easy. Good luck!💗

For some inexplicable reason my BS didn’t schedule a pre-op for me. It really irritated the anesthesiologist because right before my surgery he asked me about it. I thought it was SOP.

I can’t imagine it’s any more than blood work and checking your vitals.

    Hi bam,

My pre-op assessment was conducted by phone. I was told to set aside 45 minutes for the call. (That's the amount of time it took.) A nurse or physician's assistant called and asked lots of questions about my health, previous surgeries, reactions to anesthesia, etc. I asked if I could speak to an anesthesiologist before the day of my surgery and they had one call me.

    Good luck to you.

EKG, CBC, vitals, meeting with anesthesiologist, medical history, listing of allergies or any restrictions.
