Heart papitations
i had breast cancer sergery early 2018 for a left lumpectomy and then radiation. Im suffering from pain atleast 4 months now when i press just a little on my breast or lay on it. I also have a mass that they ultrasound. The thing that really concerns me is that i think im getting heart papitations here and there. I had a bad episode a month ago and i thought they werent going to stop. Anyone had this before? Its like a fluttering.

I hope it's nothing, but you should be in the ER, not posting on BCO! There's no telling what it is, but should be checked out asap!

Agree with pupmom - check it out just to be on the safe side.

Heart palpitations or an errythmia can be serious or benign. They are also very common. The difficulty is getting the medical personnel to observe them. I went to the ER numerous times, but as soon as I arrived, they stopped and all tests were normal. Then wore a halter for 24 hours that finally recorded the activity. Dx with Premature Atrial Contractions, mostly benign. Rarely have them now. See a dr now as some can lead to a stroke or sudden death, but lots of treatments available. Stress plays a huge role too. As can caffeine, antihistamines, etc. A key question they always asked me was whether I had any symptoms along with palpitations, like discomfort or shortness of breath. I did not, but I was extremely stressed. So do not panic, but do not delay diagnosis either. Let us know how you make out

Thankyou I will talk to my surgeon about them as I should get my results from my ultasound this week coming . I haven't had arm pain or shortness of breath . I will ask about them though.

Hi all. I’ve been Having out of the blue heart palpitations - often with shortness of breath- has been one of my most upsetting and very frustrating side effects from my breast cancer treatments. They started when I was on chemo and herceptin (where I did have heart problems and irregular heartbeats due to the herceptin) and have continued since I’ve been on tamoxifen. I’ve gone to heart specialists and had numerous tests (some of which were not valid due to poor equipment- long story). They have gone down in frequency due to medication but they still happen more than they should. From testing I’ve (and docs) have seen that all of a sudden my heart starts going fast for no good reason, however since it’s not a well known side effect and doctors don’t know why it’s happening, they have apparently decided that it’s no big deal. Starting to feel like I’m going crazy with this. Ugh

Jmatrix: I thought I would lose my mind when I was suffering from palpitations. The emotional stress increased the palpitations and the palpitations caused more stress. It became a vicious cycle and consumed my life. I totally understand. Pursue more answers if you are not assured and once you feel assured, you will slowly accept them and not panic every time they occur. I had to accept them before they gradually went away or until you can live with them. But if you are still feeling vulnerable and scared, how do you accept them. I researched this to death at the time like I do everything and the emotional component is huge and largely ignored by the doctors. You are not going crazy and your reaction is completely normal.
