I have been in the hospital for an unrelated infection and developed an infection in my new foob. The surgery for the foob was January 8th. I was admitted with strep in my upper chest not foobs on the 20th. The breast issue didn't show up until the 28th. I am taking 2 different antibactics. The foob is still looking swollen and continues to drain and I don't feel any better. I am using silver liquid on the incision 3 times a day plus washing it in warm soapy water 3 times a day per my PS.

I am thinking of adding a thieves essential oil. Any thoughts on essential oils for this type of thing. I am trying to not have to do a fourth surgery. I'm so tired of this whole breast cancer crap

Are you still in the hospital? Have you had an Infectious Disease consult? How long have you been on these antibiotics without improvement?

I developed a breast infection five weeks after surgery. My PS sent me to the hospital and I was on IV antibiotics for three days. I saw an ID doctor there who coordinated my care and follow up.

I'm very sorry that you're going through this. I know it's frustrating and seems never ending. I hope things improve soon.

I am not in the hospital now But I was in the hospital for a week. I did meet with an Infectious disease doctor. He swab it and started me on another antibiotic. I will be done with all antibiotics by tomorrow and I still have draining of yellowy junk. I am to see my PS again on Monday the 11th.

NotveryBrave-- did you have to have your implants removed?

Thankfully, no. I knew it was a possibility if things didn't quickly improve and they were better after maybe 24 hours of the IV antibiotics (Vancomycin and Rocephin).

The infection was only on the cancer side and only some pink blotchiness and slight swelling. Honestly - I still had post surgery swelling so I didn't even recognize that.

Interesting to note that natural breasts are not sterile body parts. The ducts that empty at the nipple can allow bacteria from outside to enter. I still have my nipples.
